KEY POINTS OF THE MEDICAL GAS OUTLET ANALYZER
- The manual is very helpful. Read it prior to using the analyzer to familiarize yourself with the unit.
The following steps detail how the analyzer performs a test on positive pressure gases: 1. Once the gas adapter is connected to the wall outlet, the analyzer will first do a static pressure test.
2. Next the analyzer will open the flow valve and try to reach the test flow of 100 liters per minute (140 lpm for Nitrogen). 3. While trying to reach the test flow, the analyzer will
simultaneously monitor the remaining pressure at the outlet under test. This is known as the dynamic pressure.
a. If the analyzer reaches the desired test flow, it will then record the dynamic pressure. b. If the dynamic pressure falls far enough to reach low-pressure limit that was pre-programmed into
the analyzer, the analyzer will stop the flow test. The flow rate at the point of the test stoppage will then be recorded.
4. Next the analyzer will reduce the flow rate and feed gas into the gas detection circuits of the analyzer. It is at this point that the gas type is determined. 5. The flow valve will close and the test is
complete. When prompted remove the adapter from the outlet, the results are automatically recorded into the analyzer memory.
The following steps detail the process required for testing vacuum inlets:
NFPA, when testing a vacuum inlet, there must be
an adjacent inlet on the same zone flowing at 85 lpm.
1. Connect the NST Vacuum Flow Regulator
to any vacuum inlet and adjust the dial until the flow rate reaches at least 85 lpm.2. With the flow port on the brass vacuum adapter covered, connect the adapter to any one of the remaining inlets. The
analyzer will first do a static pressure test. 3. When prompted by the analyzer (ALLOW FLOW, PRESS > ), uncover the flow port and then press the right arrow on the front panel of the analyzer. The analyzer
will now do a flow test. 4. When prompted remove the adapter from the inlet, the results are automatically recorded into the analyzer memory. |
