NST Report Generator™ for Windows® Setup Instructions

To install the new "Report Generator™ for Windows®" carefully follow the instructions below.  If you are not familiar with navigating through Windows Explorer, please consult a computer professional within your facility for assistance.

1. In Windows 95 or higher, select START and then select RUN.

2. In the RUN window, type the letter of the disk drive you are using followed by colon, backslash and "SETUP".  (For Example:  A:\setup)

3. Click the OK button.

4. Follow the instructions on the computer screen.

5. After inserting Disk 2, a window will appear with the option to change the directory where the software will be installed.  We suggest that you change the directory name so that it is easily recognized in the future.

6. Click the CHANGE DIRECTORY button

7. In the CHANGE DIRECTORY window, type the letter of the disk drive you are installing to followed by colon, backslash and "NST Report Generator".  (For example: C:\NST Report Generator)

8. Click the OK button.

9. Confirm that the directory information is correct before proceeding.

10. Click the INSTALL button.

11. After the installation is complete you will need to copy the Sample Data Files, located on the third diskette, into the new directory "NST Report Generator".

12. To copy the data files, start Windows Explorer.

13. In Explorer, click on the A drive to view the files on the "Sample Data Files" disk.

14. Click once on the folder named "NSTdata" to highlight it.

15. Click on EDIT in the upper left-hand corner of the Explorer window.

16. Click on COPY to copy the highlighted folder.

17. In Explorer, click on the drive that contains the directory "NST Report Generator".

18. Click once on the folder named "NST Report Generator" to highlight it.

19. Click on EDIT in the upper left-hand corner of the Explorer window.

20. Click on PASTE to place the copied folder into the "NST Report Generator" directory.

21. To create a desktop shortcut for "NST Report Generator", highlight the file "NSTRG" located in the "NST Report Generator" directory.

22. Once highlighted, click the RIGHT mouse button and then click CREATE SHORTCUT.  A shortcut will be placed in the same directory.

23. Click once to highlight the shortcut and then click the RIGHT mouse button.

24. Click COPY.

25. Close Windows Explorer.

26. Click on the desktop of the computer screen and then click the RIGHT mouse button.

27. Click PASTE to place the new shortcut on to the desktop.

28. If you would like to rename the shortcut, click on the shortcut with the RIGHT mouse button and then click RENAME.

29. Enter the new name and press the ENTER key on the keyboard.

You are now ready to use the new "Report Generator™ for Windows®".  Just double click on the new desktop icon and the program will open.  There will be one sample data file for each type of analyzer, the Electrical Receptacle Analyzer and the Medical Gas Outlet Analyzer.  We suggest that you familiarize yourself with the software by using these files.  To find out the function of any button within the program, simply place the mouse pointer on to the button and the definition will appear.  Should you have any questions regarding the new software, please feel free to contact NST at 800.678.7074.
